Baseball Essentials

Yes, I am THAT mom. I transform every baseball game into a logistical extravaganza, packing our wagon as if I’m gearing up for a full-scale family vacay rather than just a game. It’s a small price to pay for my over-the-top organization, because nothing says “dedicated baseball family” like transporting half the household to the field. Meticulously arranging everything is my labor of love, but the real thrill comes with the Herculean task of putting it all away afterward. Here are my so-called “essentials” for baseball season—where over-preparation isn’t a choice but a lifestyle. Because if you’re going to do it, you might as well go ridiculously big.

1. Reusable Grocery Bags: Forget those cute baseball mom totes. I’d rather blow my budget on the stuff that actually goes in them.

2. Snacks: I’ve created a list of gluten-free and dairy-free healthy options. Click here to check out my go to food!

3. First Aid Kit: Prepped at the start of the season and ready for action. Just replace any used items, of course. Here’s a quick list of first aid kit essentials for a day at the baseball field:

  1. Band-aids (various sizes)
  2. Antiseptic wipes or spray
  3. Gauze pads and adhesive tape
  4. Instant cold packs
  5. Tweezers (for splinters or debris)
  6. Pain relievers (like ibuprofen or acetaminophen)
  7. Antihistamine (for allergic reactions)
  8. Disposable gloves
  9. First-aid cream (like Neosporin)
  10. Scissors (for cutting tape or gauze)

This should cover most common injuries during a day at the field!

4. Wagon: A must have! There are so many different styles. Check this one out: Click Here

5. Blankets, Bleacher Seats, or Lawn Chairs: Because comfort during a game is paramount.

6. Canopy: To shield us from the sun or unexpected weather—gotta be prepared for everything!

7. Cooler of Drinks: Water, tea, sports drinks, and any chilled snacks. Frozen applesauce is perfect! I always toss in a soft ice pack—because why not?

We love our two Yeti coolers! The smaller one fits perfectly in our wagon, while the larger one is great for restocking and keeps in the car. When we’re spending the day at the ballfields, we bring both along—one for drinks and snacks and the other as a backup.

**And let’s not forget the extra set of clothes for my little baseball star—socks, shorts, and slides. No one wants to suffer through itchy baseball pants for a moment longer than necessary, especially on a long drive home. So, I make sure he’s as comfortable as possible.

With this absurdly thorough packing list, we’re not just ready for a game—we’re ready for an epic adventure. Our setup makes it look like we’re going on a cross-country road trip whenever we head to the ballfields. It’s over-the-top, but if I’m going to spend 10 hours watching baseball, you bet I’m going to do it in style.
