Whew. Can we all just take a collective breath?
I don’t know about you, but as we roll into spring, I feel like we just made it through the marathon of winter activities—basketball games, sports practices, music concerts,, church activities, confirmation prep. And now? Now we’re sprinting into a whole new season.

In our family, spring means extra baseball practices, volleyball, school activities ramping up, track meets, spring concerts, parent-teacher conferences… and this year, we even tossed in a trip to Arizona for MLB spring training over break (because why not add one more thing, right?). And with Easter, confirmation celebrations for our daughter, and a calendar full of upcoming graduations, tournaments, and end-of-year parties—it’s a lot.
Just typing that out makes me feel overwhelmed.
And I know I’m not alone in this. When you actually list out everything, it’s no wonder we feel like we’re constantly catching our breath, just trying to keep up.
So where does that leave time for me? Honestly? It’s usually in the car, right after I’ve dropped a kid off at practice or rehearsal. That’s my quiet space. My reset zone.
Lately, I’ve been leaning into Audible and podcasts—something I never thought I’d be into, but here I am, obsessed. I recently listened to Let Them by Mel Robbins and… wow. Total game changer. It’s given me so much clarity and permission to let go of the things that don’t serve me.
Back when my kids were little, I was good about getting up early, reading devotionals, journaling. But life looks different now. Time feels tighter. So instead of fighting that, I’ve shifted how I feed my soul—and audio has become my lifeline.
If you’re feeling like you’re drowning in to-dos and responsibilities, here’s my little tip: Find something to listen to that brings you back to you. Something that reminds you who you are outside of the chaos and the carpool.
Some of my favorite listens that have breathed life back into me lately:
- Let Them by Mel Robbins
- You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero
- The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
- The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson
- The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown
Some I plan to dive into next…
- Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist
- Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo
- The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer
- The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
- Soundtracks by Jon Acuff
- Untamed by Glennon Doyle
- Atomic Habits by James Clear
- Get Out of Your Head by Jennie Allen
- Chasing Slow by Erin Loechner
- Do Less by Kate Northrup
- I Guess I Haven’t Learned That Yet by Shauna Niequist
Each of these has met me right where I am—whether that’s exhausted, inspired, or just trying to stay sane while waiting in the school pickup line.
So as you head into this wild season, give yourself some grace. Hit play on something that fills your cup. Let your car time become your you time. And remember—you’re doing amazing.
